The sandwich board was a popular form of advertising in the 19th century, when merchants were carry the two plancards on their should shoulders and travelled up and down the street to promote their goods and services. Charles Dickens was the first person to refer the carriers as "sandwich men" and from there, they became sandwich board. Over time, the world changed and business owners did not pay for sandwich men and a frame was structured to keep the sandwich boards in place. To support the sandwich board, an A-frame was built and supported the plancards. A-frames get their name as they look like an A when viewed from the side. The A-Frame Signs were born and still widely used today.

A-Frames are designed for the outdoors but they can act as a big sail in heavy wind conditions. It is always recommended to secure your A-Frame in the event you have big winds but also to stop anyone from stealing them too. You can tie them to a pole or use some heavy weights or even better, invest a little more in your A-Frame and get our heavy-duty outdoor A-Frame which comes with a solid base with super strong wheels that can be filled with sand or water for the additional weight without compromising on style.
